What we do

Our Services

Pet Sitting

Going out of town? A pet sitter offers both you and your pet many benefits. Our services include: Food and water as instructed, play time and individual loving attention. Walks, walks, walks. What you can expect….

Dog Walking/Mid-Day Visit

For those pet owners who want someone to come in at regularly scheduled days, at specific times this service is for you. So, whether you are at work putting in extra hours or you just need your dog walked, I can help.  This is a great service for puppies who are being house broken, or for older dogs who may need to go out more often. During extreme heat, I reserve the right not to walk since this could endanger your pet.

In-Home Dog Training

Obedience dog training and behavior modification in the convenience of your home while you are on vacation. Come home to a completely trained dog, and just learn how to work with you dog in just a few lessons. Pet sitting and dog training packages available.

Over Night Visits

Pamper your pooch to an over night visit. This service includes everything a regular vacation visit offers and more. We arrive at your home approximately 8:00 p.m. and stay overnight until approximately 7:00 a.m. the next morning. Since this typically is a popular service we recommend a minimum of one weeks notice. Availability is limited.

Pet Taxi Services

The Pet Nanny can provide transportation to & from your veterinarian, groomer, kennel, etc. Minimum 30 minute fee plus .32 cents per mile. Hourly fees also available.

HELLO, MY NAME IS…

LORI BALL

Hello, my name is Lori Ball.  Since 1989, I’ve been providing professional and reliable serves that pet owners can count on. With over decades of experience and training, I understand the expectations of all pet parents. That’s why I’ve dedicated my life to ensuring every animal is safe and happy in every situation – providing real solutions to the most common problems pet owners face. Still, I’m learning about new care techniques and pride myself on improving my skill set so that I can be the best Pet Sitter in the SW Portland area.

I have over 30 years of experience in owning and operating a pet sitting company. I have experience in caring for a variety of pets, from flying squirrels to the domestic household cat.  I have also cared for an assortment of dog breeds including but not limited to Pit Bulls, Irish Wolfhounds, Great Danes, German Shepherds, Jack Russell Terriers, and many more. I created The Pet Nanny concept in 1989 while I worked for a veterinarian in Alpharetta, Georgia and attended Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia. My love for pets started when I was a child and I would often bring pets home because they were lost and/or injured.  Even in college I managed to find stray dogs and re-home them. It was not easy sneaking dogs past the RA every morning and evening.  I have two dogs of my own. Bella is my Poodle. She is 12 years old now. She is still spunky and so full of life. Gunner is our Great Pyrenees and Cattle Dog mix. We adopted him from Oregon Dog Rescue 3 years ago. We have two cats; Kit and Kat. They all bring us so much joy.

PET SITTING ADVANTAGES

Why Hire a Pet Sitter?

What are THE ADVANTAGES FOR MY PET

  • Reduced Stress. Your pet stays in its own familiar secure environment where all the sights, smells and sounds say “Home!”
  • Diet and Exercise. Customary diet and exercise routines are followed, with no interruption to upset your pet.
  • No “Travel Trauma.” Travel in a vehicle to boarding facility or kennel may upset your pet.
  • Health Concerns. With a pet sitter, there is minimal exposure to illness of other animals.
  • TENDER LOVING CARE. Most importantly, your pet receives love and personal attention while you are away.

What are the advantages for me?

  • No Travel. You won’t be inconvenienced or upset by transporting your pet.
  • No Imposition. You don’t have to impose on a friend, neighbor or relative to care for your pet, but instead rely on a pet care professional who will put you pet’s needs first.
  • Security. Your home is made more secure by the crime deterrent services provided by most pet-sitting services.
  • Peace of Mind. While you’re away, you can feel confident your pet is in capable, caring hands.
  • Special Services. Pet sitters can provide additional home services while caring for your pet, such as watering plants and bringing in the mail.
  • No Extra Expense. Put aside any additional cost that kennels have for specific drop-off and pick up times.
